Try a seven-day study using one ordinary object as your only subject. Choose something with a clear silhouette, such as a mug, scissors, folded cloth, or a piece of fruit. Each day, describe the same object with a different mark-making approach: contour lines, solid shapes, hatching, torn paper, pixel blocks, a single brush stroke, or a reduced geometric system. Keep the scale and viewpoint consistent so the changes in technique remain visible. Spend no more than twenty minutes per study, then write one sentence about what the mark made easier or harder to see. The goal is not to produce seven polished images; it is to notice how the choice of tool changes attention, rhythm, and interpretation. At the end, place the studies side by side and choose the approach that best communicates weight, texture, or mood. Share the set with a short note on what surprised you.
